매직북클럽 Diary of a Wimpy Kid 윔피키드 Day 1


매직북클럽 9월의 책은 Diary of a Wimpy Kid 윔피키드입니다. 2007년 1권 출간과 동시에 전 세계적인 열풍을 일으킨 윔피키드 시리즈는 500주간 뉴욕 타임스 베스트셀러로 전 세계 초등학생을 사로잡은 마성의 일기장입니다. 실생활에서 바로 사용할 수 있는 구어체 표현이 많아서 영어를 배우는 성인학습자에게 영어공부를 위한 좋은 교재로 소개되고 있습니다. 북클럽과 함께 매일 꾸준히 영어원서를 읽으며 영어 실력을 향상시켜 봅니다.

1. on second though  다시 생각해 보니, 근데 말이야, 또 이런면도 있다(생각이 순간적으로 바뀔 때)
Okay. I'm ready. Then again, I'm gonna grab a jacket just in case.

I'd love to upgrade my /our car's. (But) Then again, there are a lot of other things around the house that we need to replace. 

2. 하긴 뭐 <자기 생각을 contradict(정면으로 배치되는 얘기) 할 때>
Then again, We are all from different parts of the world.

+) The hotel was awful. But then again you cannot expect much for 5만원 a night.
    하루에 숙박비가 5만원인데 뭘 기대해.

구슬쌤 잘못 쓰면 뉘앙스가 확- 달라지는 had better, might as well
+) There's nothing to do. We might as well go for a walk.
    할 일도 없는데 우리 산책 가는게 어떨까? (산책가는게 낫다)
+) Should I apply for the job? You might as well. It can't hurt.
    일자리 지원 해볼까? 하는편이 나을 거야. 손해 볼 것 없어.

So I figured I might as well write in this book to pass the time.(4p)

The thing that really stinks is that I have ALWAYS been into girls.(6p)

I don't get any credit for sticking with the girls all this time.(7p)

But it's not that easy remembering to keep your fingers crossed every moment of the day.

+) It's OK, but I'm having a hard time getting used to such a small space. 
    괜찮아요, 하지만 그렇게 좁은 공간에 익숙해지기가 힘드네요.
I’m having a seriously hard time getting used to the fact that summer is over.(10p)

+) I always brush my teeth and wash my face like I do every morning on a school 
+) She packs her lunchbox with care, like she does every morning on a school day.

    not a diary.
    I figured I might as well write in this book to pass
    the time.
    I’m having a seriously hard time getting used to
    the fact that summer is over and I have to get out
    of bed every morning to go to school.
